Comments on the Solar Stewardship Initiative’s Traceability Standard

This submission provides recommendations for the Solar Stewardship Initiative’s (SSI) draft Traceability and ESG standards to address the solar industry’s ongoing exposure to state-imposed forced labour in the Uyghur Region.

Key recommendations include:

• Implementing specific requirements to address Uyghur forced labour
• Establishing a public accountability mechanism for non-compliance
• Setting a clear timeline for members to assess 100% of their value chain
• Ensuring SSI standards complement rather than replace effective human rights due diligence
• Enhancing supply chain disclosure and transparency
